Having spent many years at various record labels, I’ve experienced my share of working with cookie-cutter artists and events. Now, partnering with some of the most dynamic and talented songwriters in the world with Songwriter City, and curating a variety of events, I’m often reminded of how blessed I am. This awareness hit home again recently during a very special event with two-time GRAMMY winner Natalie Hemby at Miranda Lambert’s Casa Rosa. The audience was a room full of top women attorneys, and Natalie, who has co-written over 35 songs with Miranda—including three #1 singles and five Top 10 hits—performed a few of those songs. She also shared the stories behind them, spoke about her friendship and partnership with Miranda, and engaged in an inspiring Q&A. To top off this immersive experience, Natalie played all the songs on a custom “Bluebird” guitar that Miranda gifted her. It was an incredibly special night. I’ve done the ordinary and average.
