JT Harding first moved from his native South Detroit to Los Angeles to pursue music; there, he worked as an assistant to the band Linkin Park, made a demo tape with prize money he won on the VH1 game show Rock & Roll Jeopardy! and was subsequently signed by EMI and Atlantic Records. After penning his first hit, Uncle Kracker’s single “Smile,” JT relocated to Nashville and joined the city’s songwriting community.
Harding has since written 7 #1 songs including "Sangria" by Blake Shelton, "Somewhere With You" by Kenny Chesney, "Alone With You" by Jake Owen, “Different For Girls” by Dierks Bentley, "Somewhere In My Car" by Keith Urban and his latest chart topper, “Beer and Sunshine” by Darius Rucker. He’s had other cuts by Billy Currington, Goo Goo Dolls, Five For Fighting, Matt Nathanson, Rascal Flatts, and more.
Harding is the biological son of actor and comedian Jay Thomas, who put him up for adoption at an early age. His adoptive parents, Larry and Kendra Harding, moved from Nashville to Grosse Pointe, MI when Harding was young. His adoptive father worked at a rock radio station in Detroit.
JT is known for his hilarious, fun-filled stories, and he’s sharing some of them in a new memoir and songwriting how-to, Party Like A Rockstar: The Crazy, Coincidental, Hard-Luck, and Harmonious Life of a Songwriter, which was released in February 2022 from Twelve Books.
JT brings unsurpassed energy and fun to every event.
